Newcastle United new boy Hatem Ben Arfa is relishing the chance to shine in England, having left Marseille just before the transfer window slammed shut.
The talented 23-year-old forward has joined the Magpies on a season-long loan and is hoping to shake off a tag as a difficult customer to deal with.
He commented:"I wanted to leave Marseille because the coach wasn't being particularly fair with me. I wanted to come to Newcastle and it is important that the fans understand that.
"I want them to be clear about the fact I wish to be here to play for them and that all of the stories that people hear about me are not always the truth.
"Now I am here I want to show everybody what I can do. I'm fully fit and ready to go. To be given the chance to play here is the most important thing for me."
United boss Chris Hughton is confident that Ben Arfa will make his mark, telling the club's official website:"Just before he came to us he was involved in a full international game with the France team, so with regard to him being fit, there's no problem.
"He's a very, very gifted footballer who can play anywhere across the forward line.
"Predominately most would have seen him play on the left – he's a left-footed player – but he can play off the front and also on the right-hand side."
