Reports suggest Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez will attempt to bring Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey back to Anfield in January.
The 31-year-old is not a regular starter for Villa while the Reds are desperate for a new forward as their struggles this season continue.
Fernando Torres has not fully recovered from a hernia despite resting the problem for five weeks and the likes of Daviod N'Gog and Andriy Voronin have struggled to impose themselves on opposition defences.
Benitez is believed to be looking at selling Ryan Babel, Voronin, Andrea Dossena and Philipp Degen next month as he looks to revamp his squad.
Heskey found the net 55 times in 222 appearances during his time with the Reds before going on to star for Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic.
Since moving to Villa Park in January, the England international has scored five times in 33 matches.
