Liverpool looks to have been given a huge boost after Daniel Sturridge returned to first team training following a lengthy rehabilitation period to solve a thigh injury that caused him to miss a large part of the season, Daily Star reports.
The 25-year-old only made three appearances so far and with Brendan Rodger’s other striking options failing to find the net on multiple occasions, his return could solve that problem.
Sturridge is unlikely to make an appearances against Aston Villa this weekend as Rodgers will not want to risk another injury, but he is tipped to regain his match fitness by the end of January.
The Reds have been in average form so far following their shaky start as they have picked up only one defeat in their last 13 matches in all competitions.
They currently sit eight in the league, five points behind Manchester United who are in line for a Champions League spot in fourth place, but are still trailing leaders Chelsea by 17.
