Hughes Blames Officials For Arsenal Defeat

Mark Hughes has claimed that the referee and his assistants were to cause of QPR’s defeat away at Arsenal yesterday, as reported by talkSPORT.

Hughes was furious than defender Stephen M’Bia was sent off for lashing out at Thomas Vermaelen and the former Manchester City boss also berated the officials over the Gunners’ winner.

“We’re disappointed because the linesman had already given the foul to us.

“Stefan has taken a swing but there was no contact but Vermaelen has made a meal of it and the referee warranted that it was a straight red.”

“At that point I was totally comfortable with the way the game was going. We were in control and I had made substitutions with a view to go and win the game. The sending off put us on the back foot but even then our response to adversity was absolutely fantastic. Each one of the players strove to get us back on terms.

“The goal is ridiculous as Arteta was offside twice in the build-up. I have had some cock and bull story from the referee talking about Ryan Nelsen going off the pitch so that deemed everybody onside and I have no idea what he is talking about.”
