Hull chasing Blues defender

Birmingham defender Curtis DaviesHull boss Steve Bruce is preparing a £4million swoop for Birmingham defender Curtis Davies, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Tigers secured promotion to the Premier League last season, leaving them with much work to do in order to build a squad capable of avoiding an immediate return to the second tier.

Bruce has made defensive reinforcements one of his major focuses, and is keen to lure Davies to the KC Stadium.

With the Blues currently strapped for cash, the former Wigan chief is confident that £4m will be enough to tempt them to sell.

The Midlanders may accept a lower fee, but only if Jack Hobbs is made part of the deal.

Norwich and Stoke both saw bids for the 28-year-old rejected in January, but it’s likely that he will be on the move in the coming months.

Bruce is also said to be keen on Jermaine Pennant, who was released by the Potters recently.

Rumours suggest that he could be in line to sign another deal at the Britannia Stadium, but Hull are keen to offer him an alternative, and could tempt him with a greater chance of first-team football.

Meanwhile, Mark Schwarzer, who has also been released, has also been mooted as a potential summer target.

Hull fans, can Curtis Davies add the quality needed for Premier League safety?
