Hull City defender to hand in transfer request

Hull City defender Harry Maguire is expected to hand in a transfer request, according to the Daily Mail.

The English defender is wanted by Middlesbrough, who offered £5million for the 24-year-old. Hull have said he is not for sale.

The Tigers are currently manager-less after Steve Bruce resigned from his post, and it seems Maguire is ready to add to the club’s misery by handing in a transfer request. Shortly after Bruce left, Mo Diame joined Newcastle United, who chose to drop down a division to play for the Magpies.

Hull City start their new campaign back in the Premier League against current champions Leicester City, and fans have planned protests before the game aimed at the club’s owners.

Maguire played in 24 Championship games last season, helping them back into the Premier League via the Play-offs. But the England Under-21 international is looking to start the season with fellow newcomers Middlesbrough, and is hoping an official transfer request will help push through a move.
