Hull City striker Abel Hernandez has been charged for punching Manchester United defender Phil Jones in last weekend’s fixture, according to reports from the Express.
After reviewing the footage from the match, Hernandez was seen punching Jones in the 70th minute of the match, although the incident was not caught by the referee.
The FA have now confirmed that the Hull star is facing repercussions for his actions and will have to respond to the charges ahead of the 6pm deadline tomorrow.
It was a heated affair for manager Steve Bruce’s side because they needed a victory and hoped that Newcastle United loss in order to ensure their stay in the Premier League.
However, with the result of the Hull versus Manchester United being 0-0 and the Magpies proving victorious against West Ham United, the Tigers were eventually relegated into the English Championship for next season.
Apart from the incident, United star Marouane Fellaini also received an instant red for a harsh tackle on Paul McShane, resulting in a three match ban for the upcoming campaign.
