Hull City turn to 16-goal Ligue-1 ace after failed bid for Manchester United star

Hull City are preparing a potential £9million move to lure Lorient’s Vincent Aboubakar to the Premier League after failing to land Manchester United star Danny Welbeck with a £14million bid, Mirror reports.

With the £12million departure of Shane Long to Southampton, Steve Bruce has some funds at his disposal as he aims to find a replacement for the Irish striker.

Bruce was keen on an English striker, but after his chase for Welbeck as well as Troy Deeney fell through, he is looking elsewhere.

Aboubakar, 22, is the next candidate to replace Long at the KC Stadium after a very impressive scoring run in the Ligue-1.

The Cameroon international made 35 appearances in his first season in France, netting 16 goals and has already opened his scoring account with the national squad.

When it comes to attacking options, Bruce currently has the likes of Nikica Jelavic and Yannick Sagbo still available to him, but has admitted his desire to add at least one more forward before the close of the transfer window.
