Hull still keen on West Brom ace

Hull boss Steve Bruce is set to launch a fresh move for West Brom striker Shane Long once the January transfer window opens, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Tigers came close to sealing a deal for the Republic of Ireland international over the summer, only to see their Premier League rivals opt to keep hold of the forward despite him already being on his way to the KC Stadium to complete a transfer.

Despite his disappointment, Bruce has remained keen on the front-man, who has shown glimpses of the form that once saw him attract interest from the likes of Liverpool I recent months.

The ex-Sunderland chief sees Long as the ideal mad to spearhead his attack as he sets about keeping his side in the top tier after returning the big time for the current campaign.

However before he can launch a move for the 26-year-old, Bruce must set about containing him as the two sides meet in league action:

”Shane has got to be closely watched, that’s for sure, because he is an excellent player. For a lad who is under 6ft tall, he is very good in the air, and he is also so quick when he runs in behind defenders.

“I rate him as a terrific all-round footballer but, then, the Premier League is full of them so he will not be any different to any other top striker we have already faced.”
