Hull to fight rivals for Tottenham defender

Hull City and QPR are battling to sign Danny Rose, with Sunderland also interested.

The Express reports that the Tottenham defender is in the middle of a three-way tug-of-war, with Hull starting the bidding at £6million. Spurs are awaiting bids from QPR and Sunderland before responding to the Tigers.

Rose has spent his fair share of time out on loan, enjoying spells at Watford, Peterborough, Bristol City and Sunderland. But with Spurs closing in on the signing of Ben Davies from Swansea, it is expected that Rose will depart White Hart Lane on a permanent basis.

Rose did manage to break into Tottenham’s first team last season, scoring once in 22 Premier League appearances, although he will be remembered fondly by supporters for his stunning strike against Arsenal in 2010.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp is expected to be interested in working with Rose once more, and could try and bring the 24-year-old to Loftus Road, to join new signing Rio Ferdinand. Sunderland are keen on getting Rose back to the Stadium of Light, but may struggle financially should they go through with their £14million move for Liverpool’s Fabio Borini.

Rose played in the first half of Spurs’ 3-3 draw with Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
