Bolton Wanderers' Iceland defender Gretar Steinsson is confident of being ready for the new season, after undergoing surgery on his left knee.
The 28-year-old right-back says that his recovery is going well and that he hopes to play a full part in pre-season training.
He told the club's official website:"I had my operation done a few days after the end of the season and I have been into the club already doing strength and fitness work, so that I can hit the ground running in pre-season.
"Something wasn't right in my knee and I needed to have the operation done because last season, from January to May, I couldn't train as much as the rest of the squad, even though I was still able to play matches.
"I went to see a surgeon who I trusted because he has helped me before, so I am glad he had time for me and my recovery is already ahead of schedule."
Steinsson joined the Trotters in January 2008 from AZ Alkmaar and has since racked up 86 appearances in England, scoring four goals.
