If fire sale is to be had at Liverpool, then £10m trio must top the list!

Jay Lucas feels that if there
is a fire sale to be had
at Liverpool,
then this trio should top the list.

If there is something that we Liverpool fans have become
used to, then it's the constant speculation with regards to the club's
financial position. One day we have Keith Harris scaremongering supporters
painting a bleak financial outlook and then today we have the American's
dismissing such claims and suggesting that the club is in better shape than is otherwise
feared. The lack of transparency given to supporters is a reason why we are up in
arms and why we are so keen to get a voice within the club.

One of the great concerns that were drawn out of
Harris' comments yesterday was the fact that Liverpool may be forced into a
fire sale, should push come to shove around this January deadline. It certainly
doesn't inspire great confidence about any ambitions that we may have had about
strengthening our squad and consolidating our title push, so we can only hope
that the Americans view of the club's situation, turns out to be the correct
one.

I don't think there is any question that Benitez
will have to sell players in January, whether too simply to raise funds for new
purchases or pay off creditors, but he certainly won't be short of names, given
the pitiful performance of certain players last night. I have to concede that I was hugely
disappointed and couldn't understand the lacklustre display of some our fringe
stars. I know Rafa has been criticised in certain quarters about the side that
he put out, but surely the Spaniard was expecting his players to put in some
sort of passion and commitment, for the hoards of us who travelled down last
night.

They were an utter disgrace out there, totally
second best in every department and certain players showed that they clearly
aren't good enough to befit the red shirt. Degen was woeful, Dossena the worst
ever and even Hyypia failed to show any composure or appetite for the game; it
was an utter disaster out there and quite frankly and if there is a fire sale
to be had, then I will happily have this trio at the top of the list, because on
last night's performance and in Dossena's case all season, are clearly not up
to the task.

Who
should Liverpool look to cash in on in the January window?
