Manchester United have been dealt a transfer blow in their chase to sign Robert Lewandowski after incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti is believed to have ruled out his sale, Daily Star reports.
The 27-year-old Bayern Munich star has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford ever since his time with Borussia Dortmund, but failed in their attempts to acquire his services.
Given United’s lack of goal scoring threat so far this season, it is said that the club are plotting to table a £51million bid for his services this summer.
Ancelotti has already agreed terms to take over from current manager Pep Guardiola at the end of the campaign, but is keen to keep hold of the striker.
Lewandowski has been in sensational form this term, scoring 23 goals while providing another four assists from a total of 26 matches in all competitions so far.
With Guardiola set to leave the Bundesliga giants, Chelsea, Manchester City, and United are all keen to lure the former Barcelona manager to their respective sides.
