Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has asked his friends if Manchester United are really going to appoint Jose Mourinho, The Sun reports.
The 45-year-old have been pitted against the former Chelsea boss on multiple occasions during their time in charge of Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
Guardiola could now have another chance to add more fuel to their rivalry as Mourinho is heavily being tipped to take over from United boss Louis van Gaal at the end of the season.
A close friend has claimed that the Spaniard has been asking if the Portuguese manager is indeed taking the reins at Old Trafford, a situation that could potentially make his life in Manchester more interesting.
“Pep wants to know if Mourinho has an agreement with Manchester United,” a close friend revealed.
“Is he worried? Not really, but it will make life interesting if Jose is there.”
Guardiola has already confirmed that he will be leaving Bayern Munich when the Bundesliga campaign comes to a close.
Mourinho has also fuelled speculation of a potential appointment with the Red Devils following recent revelations that he was ready to make his return to management.
