Injuries force Manchester United to panic into new goalkeeper addition

Recent injuries to both David de Gea and Sam Johnstone have forced Louis van Gaal to recall a young goalkeeper, reports the Daily Star.

Dean Henderson had recently seen his loan spell with Stockport extended, but the Manchester United boss has been forced into recalling the youngster with two of his first choice stoppers ruled out with injury.

Sergio Romero had to feature in United’s midweek Europa League fixture and Henderson has gone straight into the squad for the FA Cup game this weekend.

Van Gaal must be regretting burning all bridges with Victor Valdes, who is also out on loan, as he relies on an 18 year old as his second choice goalkeeper.

The club has struggled with injuries throughout Van Gaal’s tenure and you would be foolish to rule out an injury to Romero meaning Henderson makes his debut for the club.

Pressure is building on the Dutch boss and these selection concerns can’t be making it easier.
