Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost in regards to star man Jan Vertonghen, who could recover from an injury in time to face Liverpool early next month, London Evening Standard reports.
Vertonghen sustained knee ligament damage during their 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace on January 23rd, with club doctors expecting the Belgium international to be out for at least two months.
However, the centre-back is recovering at a good rate and could return in time for their league clash against the Reds, as Vertonghen has begun some light individual training ahead of their title run-in.
The former Ajax captain’s absence has seen Kevin Wimmer fill into his position next to Toby Alderweireld, with the young replacement performing admirably and is expected to start their next two games against Borussia Dortmund and Bournemouth.
And the Lilywhites will get a good rest after this weekend, as there are no games the following week due to the international break.
