Manchester United are sweating over the availability of Angel di Maria after the midfielder was stamped by Nani during a friendly between Portugal and Argentina at Old Trafford, Mirror reports.
Di Maria was sent for x-rays after the match and United manager Louis van Gaal will hope that the club’s record signing isn’t another player to join the ever-growing injury list.
However Argentina boss Gerrardo Martino has revealed that Di Maria’s injury is probably nothing serious.
Martino said: “We don’t think it’s anything serious. It was quite a hard blow he took and it was a hard knock. It cut the skin a little bit.
“We’ve had a look at it and we are evaluating the situation. We are having a look at some X-rays, some images, that have been taken. But in spite of that, we don’t think it’s too serious.”
Di Maria also tweeted his condition: “It was just a blow. I hope it does not swell anymore so I can play at the weekend.”
The international break did give Man United serious problems after goalkeeper David de Gea injured his finger on duty with Spain while Dutch ace Daley Blind sustained a knee problem.
