Inter deny Benitez approach

Internazionale have distanced themselves from reports suggesting they have approached Rafa Benitez to be their new boss if, as expected, Jose Mourinho leaves the Champions League finalists and takes up the managerial position at Real Madrid.

Inter president Massimo Moratti admitted earlier this week that he was expecting Mourinho to walk away from the San Siro at the end of this season.

Benitez had been linked with Juventus earlier this year but that vacancy now looks certain to be filled by Luigi Del Neri.

Inter's technical director, Marco Branca, told Sky Italia: "No, we absolutely have not had contact with Benitez. Our coach is Jose Mourinho."

Benitez seems certain to end his six-year stay at Anfield this summer after the Reds endured a dreadful 2009-10 campaign, eventually finishing seventh in the Premier League.
