England manager Roy Hodgson has compared Tottenham Hotspur starlet Dele Alli to Manchester United legend Bryan Robson.
The 19-year-old midfielder moved to White Hart Lane in the summer and has had a fantastic season in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The former MK Dons teenager has not been daunted playing in the English top tier and continues to impress at club level.
Alli scored a wondergoal for England in the 2-0 win over France at Wembley back in November and is set to start for The Three Lions against Germany later today in an international friendly.
If he can stay fit the midfielder looks almost certain to be in Hodgson’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament in France.
The Three Lions supremo has been full of praise for the Tottenham man ahead of the clash with the world champions and has compared him to former England great Robson.
“He could do anything in that midfield position – he could be box to box, a No10, if you like, or a No6,” The Express quote Hodgson as saying.
“He could be any of them. He has genuine all-round ability. He can challenge, run, fight for the ball, see a pass and score a goal.
“You mention Bryan Robson: that’s the player I’d like to think he could become.
“But he’s 19. It’s dangerous, these things. He’s at the start of his career. One we hope will be very long. But we believe in him. He wouldn’t be in the team if I didn’t believe in him.”
