Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez both scored as Argentina finalised their Copa America preparations with a 4-0 win over Albania on Monday. With Argentina’s first group match in the Copa America taking place against Bolivia on July 1, they gave themselves a nice confidence boost heading into the tournament with their victory in the friendly at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
Starting with almost a full-strength team, Sergio Batista’s side claimed an early lead after just six minutes when Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi found the back of the net.
On the stroke of half-time, Barcelona superstar Messi delighted the crowd with his 43rd minute goal before Tevez was introduced at half-time.
The Manchester City forward has recently been linked with a move back to his home ground and delighted the crowd with his involvement, although he was usurped by Sergio Aguero as the first goalscorer in the second half when the Atletico Madrid striker scored with 15 minutes to play.
But Tevez still had time to make his mark on the contest, scoring in injury time to cap off Argentina’s final hitout in perfect style.
