France have extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches with a 1-0 international friendly win over Poland on Thursday. When Laurent Blanc took the managerial position in charge of France, he inherited a side which had only scraped into the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and once in South Africa, failed to make the group stage as infighting and scandals rocked the 1998 world champions.
Blanc initially had problems with France, losing his first two matches in charge, but has now steadied the ship and would have been pleased as their good form continued in Gdansk.
The only goal of the game came after 14 minutes when Polish defender Tomasz Jodlowiec put the ball into his own net.
On the receiving end of automatic qualification for the Euro 2012 finals due to their role as hosts, Poland were taking the friendly seriously and hopeful of continuing their good form after a 2-1 win over Argentina on Sunday.
While the second-half became littered with substitutions, France held on for the victory that will give Blanc’s side another boost of confidence.
