Is this Brazilian ace West Ham bound? Did Arsenal miss a trick?

West Ham might be in for a South American treat. The Hammers are looking to swipe a former AC Milan wonderkid from his hometown club in Sao Paulo. The now 25-year-old Brazilian has expressed his desire to move to the Premier League, but a price has yet to be set.

Speaking of prices, English clubs lately have gone a bit mad over transfer fees. Managers get overexcited and throw around money with such ferocity that the Premier League now resembles a Sepp Blatter press conference.

Manchester City and Liverpool are among the clubs that have been big spenders so far in this summer transfer window, acquiring Raheem Sterling and Christian Benteke respectively.

It seems most every big EPL club has been breaking the bank this summer, except one. Arsenal have yet to make any big money additions, paying a reasonable £11m for Petr Cech. But the Gunners may have missed out on a huge bargain, the chance to sign one of the world’s best midfielders for what amounts to chump change relative to the fees paid for Sterling and Benteke.

See the mystery man’s price and how it would have stacked up against the average English transfer fee:
