After a 6-0 drubbing of a rejuvenated Man City side, few could have predicted the impact that Avram Grant and the new management team has made. Chelsea PodJockey Blueblagger is equally impressed and wonders if they have what it takes to match the previous achievements of Jose Mourinho.
Chelsea’s 6-0 win against Manchester City came as somewhat of a surprise to all who witnessed the game. With City playing well under Sven Goran Eriksson and Chelsea on an unbeaten run under Avram Grant, most who attended were expecting a tight game and a closely fought affair.
However, Chelsea were rampant and, had they taken all their chances, they might well have scored more than the six they totalled.
Yet again, Joe Cole was awesome, Frank Lampard seems back to his best and Michael Essien is on the way to recapturing the form that made him the Player of the Year at Chelsea.
It was a great result for not only Chelsea and the supporters but also Avram Grant, Henke ten Cate and of course, Steve Clarke.
Perhaps this new management team will outshine the achievements of José Mourinho and finally lay his ghost to rest.
This will certainly be the case if Chelsea continue to play the way they have been doing for the past few weeks.
However, whether the supporters will become Avram Grant’s Blue And White Army is another question altogether. In 2000 when Gianluca Vialli was sacked and replaced by Claudio Ranieri, the supporters took their time to come round to getting used to the situation.
Is the appointment of Avram Grant just a case of déjà vu?
