Italians make move for Newcastle outcast

Serie A side Roma are set to make a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa, as reported by the Evening Chronicle.

The French playmaker was one of the Toon’s top performers last season but has struggled for fitness and form this time around.

Ben Arfa has endured two dressing room rows with boss Alan Pardew and if the former West Ham and Southampton manager stays at the club this summer, his winger could be off.

Allowed to return to France this week after a slight thigh injury, Ben Arfa has not trained with the squad ahead of their clash with Arsenal on Monday night.

The Gunners were once turned down when bidding for Ben Arfa, however Roma are now the front runners to snap up the 27 year old who has struggled with injuries since arriving on Tyneside.

Roma are guaranteed second spot in Serie A this season and will send scouts to the Emirates on Monday night in case the winger gets a run out.
