Juventus star Gianluigi Buffon has expressed his desire to play in the Premier League before he retires from professional football, according to reports from the Metro.
Buffon has been one of the world’s best goalkeepers for over a decade, winning almost every major trophy including the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
However, the Juve and Italy captain has yet to win the coveted Champions League, coming extremely close last year by reaching the final only losing out to Barcelona.
And the 37-year-old has revealed before their European clash against Sevilla that he is considering a move to the Premier League after spending 25 years playing in the Italian Serie A.
“I would have loved to have played in the Premier League,” he said.
“I have spent 10 years at Parma, 15 at Juventus and I think I still have around two and a half years left at the top. There still may be an opportunity.”
This will alert several clubs in England, as despite his age Buffon would be a major improvement for any top tier side in the division.
Manchester United could be monitoring the situation with David de Gea still expected to depart next summer, while Liverpool are considering an improvement to Simon Mignolet.
