Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has confirmed his interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg striker Marc Janko in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old scored nearly 40 goals to help his club to the Austrian league title last season, sparking interest from a number of clubs across the continent, including the Blues.
This season he has added a further eight goals in 13 games, with his club second in the table behind Austria Wien.
McLeish told the Birmingham Mail:"Janko is on a real hot goalscoring streak. He has a big presence.
"He's maybe not yet the same kind of level as Peter Crouch, he's trying to be that kind of player.
"These players like him are out there, but can we get them to come to the club? That's the question.
"There are some hidden gems out there who won't cost lots of pennies."
