Joey Barton has returned to his old ways by lashing out at an opponent in a friendly fixture for Marseille, The Daily Mail report.
The controversial midfielder has a notorious list of misdemeanours from his time playing in England, the latest of which is a 12-match ban handed down by the FA after violent conduct against Manchester City on the last day of last season.
With QPR losing patience with Barton and the player unavailable for the start of the campaign, the Loftus Road club have farmed him out to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
However, Barton has had a lack of action due to the ban being transferred across to France, with Europa League action his only competitive outing to date.
Barton did feature in a friendly fixture against Istre however, and was caught up in an altercation after a late challenge on Guy-Roland Niangbo.
The temperamental star is looking to build up match fitness, however will not have impressed his new employers after the dangerous and unsporting act.
Barton was also caught up in a fracas with AEL Limassol’s goalkeeper Matias Degra in a Europa League fixture, with the player seemingly unable to control his temper.
Barton is in line to make his Ligue 1 debut on November 17th once his ban finally runs its course, with Marseille taking on Bordeaux.
Barton claimed to have learned his lesson after he was found guilty of violent conduct against Vincent Kompany, Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero, but his disciplinary problems continue to blight his career in France.
