Chelsea captain John Terry would welcome the arrival of unsettled Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid have all emerged as potential suitors following Rooney's stunning omission that a lack of ambition at Old Trafford has left him seeking an exit.

The 24-year-old will not discuss extending his contract which still has 18 months to run.

But if United decide to cash in on the England striker in January than Terry would love to see him join the Blues.

"Wayne is the best young players in the world. I am no different to any other player in saying that," he said.

"You obviously have to respect Manchester United and Wayne, but who knows what's going to happen.

"We've got a great squad of players and he would add to that and strengthen the squad. He is the best player in the world for me."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
