Jol expressing an interest in Nolan

Newcastle midfielder Kevin Nolan could be set to leave St James’ Park, according to The Sun.

New Fulham manager Martin Jol looks set to make a move for the 28-year old who has stalled on a contract extension at Newcastle.

Club captain Nolan moved to Newcastle from Bolton in a £4 million deal in January 2009. He has made 91 appearances for the club scoring an impressive 30 goals on the way and was the club’s top scorer last season. Newcastle are believed to want £6 million for the midfielder.

West Ham are also in the race for the player with new boss Sam Allardyce keen to be reunited with his former captain at Bolton. The recently-relegated club had a £3 million bid rejected earlier this week.

Nolan could be one of several high-profile departures from The Magpies this summer with Joey Barton and Alan Smith set to leave the club whilst outstanding left-back Jose Enrique continues to be linked with bigger clubs. Manager Alan Pardew could be set for major rebuilding of his squad this Summer for the team that finished 12th in last season’s Premiership.
