Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed there has been no new bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, whilst claiming he is happy with the current state of his squad, reports Sky Sports.
Chelsea are set to arrive back in England shortly, after ending their pre season tour of Asia with an 8-1 victory over Indonesia All Stars.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho confirmed there had been no further developments in the London clubs attempt to sign Rooney.
“At this moment we have made what you know; that bid which was public and official and after that nothing else,” Mourinho said.
“But we are calm as we told you that we are calm because we are happy with what we have.”
Reports recently suggested that Mourinho is so confident of landing Rooney, that he has not identified any other targets.
The Chelsea manager has openly said that the England forward is his number one transfer target this summer, having previously failed with an attempt to sign Edinson Cavani, who opted for a move to Paris St Germain.
The pursuit of Rooney has led to some speculation over the future of Fernando Torres, although Mourinho claims competition for places would be good for the Spaniard.
“I think Torres should be happy, because we have competition in the team in every position and that is good for everybody,” said Mourinho.
