The agent of Serbia striker Milan Jovanovic has claimed that his client has put the final touches on a summer deal to take him to Liverpool from Standard Liege.
The 28-year-old has been a target for a number of top clubs across Europe, with Valencia having previously been seen as favourites for Jovanovic's signature.
However, the Reds now appear to have got their man, with Zoran Stojadinovic telling the Daily Mirror:"We have spoken with Rafa Benitez and he convinced us about his project for the club.
"Milan speaks the language and adaptation will not be a problem for him when he moves to England."
Stojadinovic had earlier warned that Liverpool were facing major competition to get their man, telling Superdeporte:"There are many possibilities. The situation will be resolved soon, but he has not signed for any club as yet.
"There is plenty of interest from Spain, but there are also a number of clubs from across Europe who remain keen."
The deal for Jovanovic comes after Anfield manager Benitez admitted that he had lost out on the signing of Bordeaux's Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh, who is expected to join Arsenal in the summer.
