Ivory Coast international Salomon Kalou faces a fortnight on the sidelines after picking up a thigh injury in Chelsea's Carling Cup clash at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international sustained a minor tear to his upper left thigh and looks set to miss the Premier League matches against Manchester City and Everton as well as the Champions League game with Apoel Nicosia.
Meanwhile, Ricardo Carvalho believes the current side is stronger than the one Jose Mourinho put together and which claimed two successive Premier League titles.
He said:"In this moment we are an improvement even from that first year here under Mourinho.
"Of course then we were compact and everyone was fighting, but now I think we have more quality in the squad maybe. Or at least different players, playing in a different system and style."
