Kenny looks to outmuscle Tottenham to £22m deal

Liverpool are ready to go head-to-head with Tottenham in the battle to sign £22 million rated Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, according to the Daily Mail.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is prepared to dip his toes into the transfer market yet again to sign the highly rated 22-year-old as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.

Despite already having Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt at his disposal, the Scot is determined to add more firepower to his side and has earmarked Damiao as a potential signing.

And although Damiao is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, Anfield scouts have already watched the forward in action and are expected to keep tabs on him until the transfer window re-opens.

Dalglish will have a fight on his hands to land the Brazilian, with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp also eager to secure his services despite seeing his £15 million bid knocked back in the summer.

Redknapp eventually brought Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane on loan from Manchester City but has never taken his eye off Damiao and is likely to make a new bid to bring him to North London in January.

Both clubs will have to be wary of getting caught up in a bidding war with each other, with Internacional likely to try and get the best possible fee for their prized asset.
