Arsenal could be set to start next season without key man Alexis Sanchez, with the Chile international set to miss the Premier League’s early stages due to participation in the Copa America.
The former Barcelona attacker is set to step out for his nation in the South American competition this summer, which will be played in Chile.
Arsene Wenger yesterday confirmed that Sanchez could miss the beginning of the domestic campaign if Chile make it through to the latter stages of the tournament.
“That’s not good news because they finish very late and if they go very far he will miss the start of the season,” The Telegraph quote the Frenchman as saying.
Sanchez has been a revelation in his first season in England, delighting the Emirates Stadium faithful with superb shows of skills and trickery, while also adding a real goal threat to Arsenal’s attack.
The South American star scored both of the Gunners’ goals in victory over Reading in the FA Cup semi-finals recently and is set to help the North London club in their efforts to retain the trophy this season.
Arsenal fans will hope that Sanchez can get even better next season and help the team fight for the Premier League title.
