Wigan trio Franco Di Santo, Maynor Figueroa and Antolin Alcaraz will be walking away from the club when their contracts expire.
The trio, along with Ronnie Stam and Albert Crusat, are out of contract in the summer and will not be offered fresh terms to stay on following relegation.
It is highly unlikely that Di Santo and Figueroa would have accepted terms anyway as they will be hoping to play in one of Europe’s top leagues next season and would not consider a season in the Championship.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has revealed the club are in a sound financial position but there were always going to be players heading for the exit door and it comes as no surprise to see the out-of-contract stars move on.
Martinez will, however, fight to keep the likes of James McCarthy, who is a target for Newcastle and Arsenal, with the club reported to have slapped a £15million price tag on his head.
