Kranjcar tells Modric to take matters into his own hands

Former Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar has told countryman Luka Modric to go on strike to try and push through his potential move to Real Madrid.

The Santiago Bernabeu club are eager to sign the diminutive playmaker this summer, with negotiations between the clubs ongoing.

However, with Spurs refusing to lower their asking price for the star a move could well be scuppered due to finances, and Kranjcar feels that Modric should take the matter into his own hands.

“If I were Modric, I would go on strike, too,” The Daily Mail report Kranjcar as saying.

‘To have an offer from Real Madrid is a once-in-a-career opportunity. I’d do anything to get to Santiago Bernabeu.

“I know the chairman talked to him face to face last autumn. Levy did everything to protect the interests of the club and make a profit. If you were in Luka’s shoes, you would probably do the same as him.

“They held me back for two years, until my new club paid what they were asking, and not a pound less,” he concluded.

Kranjcar moved to Dinamo Kiev this summer after failing to break into the White Hart Lane first team on a regular basis.
