Kuyt happy to stay with Reds

Dirk Kuyt has provided new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson with a boost after pledging his long-term future to the club.

The Netherlands World Cup star insists he has no plans to quit Anfield despite a lack of success during his time on Merseyside.

The 29-year-old forward joined the Reds in 2006 but was recently linked with a move to Internazionale where he would be reunited with former manager Rafael Benitez.

However, Kuyt insists he is happy at Anfield and not looking to move anywhere else.

“Of course I want to stay. Liverpool is a great club with a great history,” he said.

“Unfortunately in my four years I haven’t won anything but hopefully in the future, I will still have that chance.

“We will have to see what happens but hopefully the manager wants me to stay.

“I spoke to people at the club and I know he wants to speak with me. But it is very difficult at the moment because we are so busy and focus on what lies ahead.”
