Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted by speculation that Barcelona pair Alex Grimaldo and Sergi Samper are ready to leave the club due to their lack of playing time, Daily Star reports.
The two players are said to be unhappy after manager Luis Enrique revealed his intentions to sign more players in the January window as he doesn’t look keen on promoting from within.
Grimaldo was earlier linked with a switch to Anfield and has recently expressed his frustrations by admitting that he has never spoken to the first-team manager.
“I’ve had no contact with him. Nor do I have anything to speak about with him either. I work with my coach. The guy higher up [Enrique] can be with his players, and I’ll be with my team,” he said.
The Reds may be considering a move to reignite interest in the player given that he could be keen on a switch following his latest plea for regular playing time.
Samper is believed to also be open to an exit given that the Gunners were considering a move for his services earlier in the summer.
The defensive midfielder currently has a £8.5million release clause tied into his contract at the club, but his value is expected to increase dramatically in the future.
