Real Madrid star Alvaro Arbeloa has snubbed Arsenal and Chelsea so that he can return to Liverpool this January, Express reports.
Arbeloa has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu after seeing his game-time limited this season, in which he has started just five league matches.
The 31-year-old has been a regular until the recent emergence of youngster Dani Carvajal, who has pushed Arbeloa down the pecking order.
This has resulted in the Spaniard keen to find regular football elsewhere, alerting interested clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal.
But it seems that Arbeloa would favour going back to Liverpool, where he spent two seasons from 2007-2009.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is already looking for a right-back to replace Glen Johnson, and may not need to look much further than the former Spain international.
Johnson’s Liverpool deal expires at the end of the season but with the Englishman already looking to sign a pre-contract with another club, Rodgers will consider a January swoop for Arbeloa.
