Lampard could be the face of the MLS

Frank Lampard, Chelsea midfielder

The MLS have lined Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard up as David Beckham’s replacement for next season according to the Daily Mirror.

Lampard is set to leave the Blues in the summer after becoming a bit part player under recent managers.

Despite not being able to leave in January according to Blues chiefs, Lampard understands his days at Stamford Bridge may be numbered.

While Beckham left LA Galaxy last month, Lampard will not necessarily have to join them but the England international is expected to be the face of the league in Beckham’s absence.

The Mirror report that Lampard could earn as much as £130,000-a-week and avoid the notorious American wage cap.

While Lampard is a firm fans favourite with the Chelsea locals it seems that current boss Rafa Benitez has basically admitted that old boys Lampard, Ashley Cole and John Terry could be on their way out of the club.
