Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has added to his goalkeeping options by signing Bolton Wanderers shot-stopper Ali Al Habsi on a season-long loan deal.
The 28-year-old Oman international has spent the last four years at the Reebok Stadium, starting 18 matches for the Trotters.
Martinez said of his latest acquisition:“We need competition in every department, and Ali will certainly give that.
“He has a terrific attitude to the game and, after four years in England, knows all about the Premier League. We are delighted to welcome him on board.”
The Latics allowed Richard Kingson to leave the club at the end of last season only for the Ghana international to then impress at the recent World Cup finals.
Martinez also decided not to offer a permanent contract to Slovakia international Vladimir Stojkovic who had a spell on loan with Wigan last term and he also showed good form in South Africa.
