Burnley boss Brian Laws has admitted Sunday's visit of Liverpool to Turf Moor is a make-or-break fixture in their battle to beat the drop.
The Clarets could effectively be relegated back to the Championship after just one season in the top-flight should they lose at home to the Reds and fellow strugglers West Ham United beat Wigan Athletic 24 hours earlier.
"We need to know what we need to do and by Saturday evening we will know what we need to do," said Laws.
"Maybe the case will be that there will be no room for error come Sunday against Liverpool.
"It could be all or nothing and be the defining moment of this weekend.
"We are mathematically right in it. Come the weekend, Saturday, we could be even closer to avoiding relegation. It will be a defining weekend.
"If results go well for us, it gives us a real fighting chance. Until it is mathematically impossible no-one will be switching off.
"Nobody at this football club has been speaking about relegation."
