Fulham have failed with a request to the Premier League to move their final game of the season at Arsenal forward by 24 hours.

The Cottagers had asked for Sunday's league finale at the Emirates Stadium to be moved to Saturday afternoon in order to give themselves maximum preparation time for Wednesday's Europa League Final against Atletico Madrid in Hamburg.

However, the Premier League have rejected the request in the interest of maintaining the integrity of their competition.

Although the issue of relegation has already been settled, Arsenal could still lose third place in the table to Tottenham, which would force them to enter next season's Champions League at the first qualifying round stage.

"Given it was the final day of the season, when we always play all our matches at the same time for reasons of integrity and, being mindful of the travel plans supporters will have made, the board felt it wasn't appropriate to move the Arsenal-Fulham match," read a Premier League statement.Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
