Leicester line up 22 goals strike star as they plot for Champions League campaign

Leicester are considering a summer move for in-form Sporting CP striker Islam Slimani, according to reports from A Bola.

The Foxes have enjoyed a season that has defied all expectation and currently sit top of the Premier League with 12 games to play.

Although a title win appears unlikely regardless of their current berth, Claudio Ranieri’s men sit 12 points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, meaning that qualification for next season’s Champions League is odds-on.

And reports claim that the King Power Stadium outfit are already putting plans in place for 2016/17, with Slimani wanted.

The Algeria international has netted an impressive 22 goals in 34 games for Sporting this season and has long been tipped to leave Portuguese football for a career in one of Europe’s true elite leagues.

Slimani could partner current Leicester hero Jamie Vardy up front in Ranieri’s favoured 4-4-2 set-up.
