Leicester offer star £80k-a-week contract to stave off Liverpool interest

Leicester City are set to offer star midfielder Danny Drinkwater a new contract that would see him earn £80,000 per week in a bid to stave off interest from Liverpool, The Daily Mail claim.

The all-action midfielder shone alongside N’golo Kante in the Foxes boiler room in 2015-16, with the pair playing a major role in Claudio Ranieri’s men claiming a shock Premier League title.

The 27-year-old has been included in Roy Hodgson’s provisional squad for Euro 2016 as a result.

A host of his team-mates are reportedly being eyed up by some of England’s biggest clubs, with Drinkwater the latest to draw attention.

Jurgen Klopp is set to revitalise his squad this summer after missing out on Champions League qualification and reportedly has the Foxes star in his sights.

However, a new deal for the former Manchester United star would end the Reds’ interest and secure Drinkwater’s future at the King Power Stadium.
