Leicester star set for new contract

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new deal with the Premier League champions, according to ESPNFC.

The Danish shot-stopper kept 15 clean sheets last season, as the Foxes shocked the football world and lifted the Premier League title.

It’s been a nervous summer for Leicester, as they try to keep hold of their key players from last campaign. Whilst they lost N’Golo Kante to Chelsea, they were able to hold on to Jamie Vardy. The forward snubbed a move to Arsenal and signed a new deal with the club.

And now it seems Kasper Schmeichel is set to do the same, after spending 5 seasons with the Foxes. The 29-year-old is keen to sign a new long-term deal, that would see him be in line with the club’s top earners.

Schmeichel has new competition this season after the club signed Ron-Robert Zieler. The two will battle to start in the FA Community Shield, as they face Manchester United on Sunday. The Premier League champions then begin the defence of their title on Saturday 13th, travelling to newly promoted Hull City.
