Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez has admitted that his side are moving closer to a dramatic Premier League title triumph.
The Algerian winger scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park yesterday that moved the Foxes eight points clear at the top of the table.
Claudio Ranieri’s men have been the standout side this season and look like favourites to be crowned English champions this term.
Mahrez has been a key man for the King Power Stadium outfit, with his partnership with Jamie Vardy a key element in Leicester’s unlikely title push.
The African attacker has confessed that the title is in the side’s grasp with seven games remaining for the league leaders.
“It’s getting close,” Mahrez told Sky Sports.
“But there’s still seven matches to go, and it’s a long way. We need to keep focused on our team and we will see what we can do.
“The game was very difficult. It was a very good win. We are eight points clear, but Tottenham are still to play.”
Mahrez’s feats of individualism have been remarkable this term and the winger will surely be a target for other clubs this summer.
Tottenham can close the gap on Leicester to five points with a win over Bournemouth today at White Hart Lane.
