Let’s hope Spurs fans give him the reception he deserves

Football FanCast guest columnist Steve Watts is delighted to see Paul Robinson back to
his best and is sure he will get a rousing reception on his return to the Lane.

I'm sure there is no
question that Paul Robinson will be welcomed back to the Lane with great warmth
tomorrow and the Spurs faithful will undoubtedly give the Blackburn keeper a
rousing reception.

Robbo, I believe, will
always remain a fans favourite and I don't think there has been a player who
fans have willed so much as we did last season in the hope he could recapture
his form. A parting of the ways was necessary for both club and player, and why
we have since moved on and brought in a keeper, who shall we see is struggling somewhat,
Paul Ince has got the best out of Robbo, which has seen him return to the
England set-up.

Spurs fans have long
memories and we always remember those players who have done us a service. Paul
Robinson was undoubtedly one of the top three players at the club in his first
two seasons. He was a fantastic shot stopper; distribution was first class, and
he single handily use to keep us in games. I don't think anybody could have
foreseen how that infamous air shot in Zagreb, back in 2006, would see every
ounce of confidence and belief drain from a player, but that it did and his
Spurs career seem to spiral down from there.

It is great to see that
Blackburn are bringing him back to his best and a big part of me wishes that
this inform Robbo was lining up for us tomorrow. We have all moved on and have
to believe or hope that Tony Parks
can bring the best out in Heurelho Gomes; otherwise we will be back in the
market in again come January trying to fill this void.
