Liverpool accept bid from Bournemouth for international defender

Liverpool have accepted an offer from Bournemouth for Australia international left-back Brad Smith according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has been on the Merseyside outfit’s books since 2008 and has made five Premier League appearances in recent years.

A loan stint at Swindon Town in 2014 gave Smith a taste of first-team football, but the former England under-20’s star has largely been confined to featuring in the Reds reserves.

Bournemouth have already spent £15 million to ensnare Jordon Ibe from Liverpool this summer and it is believed that Smith will follow his former Anfield team-mate to the Vitality Stadium.

The nine-times capped Socceroo was on Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States but it is believed that the 22-year-old will now fly back to England to discuss a potential switch to Eddie Howe’s men.

With a plethora of options on the left, Smith faces another season of little action with Jurgen Klopp’s men should he stick it out on Merseyside.
