Liverpool’s underfire ‘keeper Simon Mignolet has insisted that his confidence remains high despite losing his starting place to Brad Jones, the Belgium international said:
“I just take every game as it comes
“I work hard and keep my head down like I’ve always done – nothing changes.
“Sometimes things get tough but you still have to step up and I am a positive guy and will try to go again.”
The former Sunderland shot-stopper came on as a substitute against Burnley in the Reds’ Premier League clash against Burnley yesterday after Brad Jones suffered an injury. Mignolet managed to reach the final whistle having maintained Liverpool’s clean sheet, although there was moment when he inexcusably allowed the ball to trickle out for a corner-kick.
Mignolet had been dropped indefinitely by Rodgers, although if Jones’ injury is serious, Mignolet will get the chance to redeem himself and to try and convince the former Swansea City gaffer that a new ‘keeper in January isn’t required.
